To inaugurate our 140th program year, join us for a chamber concert with Clarion Music Society, a festive reception, and fellowship with old and new friends at the historic House of the Redeemer. 6:00pm – Welcome 6:10–6:30pm – Chamber Concert: Clarion Music Society 6:30pm – Festive Reception About Clarion Music Society: Founded in 1957 by conductor Newell Jenkins, Clarion became New York's first period-instrument orchestra with a regular concert season. Jenkins's research revived forgotten works by Sammartini and Vivaldi, and over nearly 40 years he led more than 70 world premieres. Today the Society also includes the Clarion Choir, formed in 2006, a GRAMMY-nominated ensemble. House of the Redeemer: Built 1914–1916 as the Upper East Side townhouse of Edith Shepard Fabbri, a great-granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt, the mansion was designed by architect Grosvenor Atterbury and features a 17th-century library imported from a ducal palace near Urbino, Italy. Deeded to the Episcopal Church as a retreat house and designated a NYC Landmark in 1974, it remains a significant resource for the Episcopal community.
